Training courses aimed at older people living in the city of Cartagena, and taught by the Department of Social Policy, ended last June.
Thus, from October 2007 to June 2008 there have been a total of 15 courses, omnibus Computer, Writing and Autobiography, Feeling Good, Wine Tasting (Level I and II), Memory Training, Sleep: Stages and interpretation, bank-Wills and Yoga, with a total participation of 260 people.
The City of Cartagena offers the largest offer a variety of training courses to help them acquire, upgrade and expand their knowledge and skills to promote personal development and participation in the various sectors of social life.
Among the various objectives pursued in the Major Program of the City of Cartagena through the various courses is to encourage the active participation of the elderly, by offering courses that spend their free time creatively and orderly; develop their personal skills, fostering social and cultural exchange, prevent social isolation and loneliness, improve their quality of life, creating opportunities for participation and socio-cultural activities appropriate to their demands and needs, and encourage active participation, physical social psychological and the elderly.
The degree of participation in various courses, in high demand and consolidated, is most satisfactory, being all covered, and always a waiting list.
Today, new technologies, volunteerism and lifelong learning are the three pillars of a program that promotes the active role of older people and encourages their participation in society.
Thanks to this success the council of Social Policy within the program of activities with older people takes place, seeks to launch a new program for next year, in collaboration with the financial institution Caja Murcia, a training program aimed at people over 60 years the city of Cartagena with a desire to keep learning.
