The Department of Celebrations of the City of Cartagena and the Folk Group 'Ciudad de Cartagena' of La Palma have presented the XVI National Folklore Festival of the District of Cartagena, to be held from 9 to 13 July in the exhibition 'The Palm Grove Great Houses' of La Palma.
The Councillor, Florentina Garcia Vargas, highlighting the great work done by the folk group that has worked hard on this festival so we can all remember and enjoy the traditions of the land and the music that represents popular culture, excelling year after year .
For the program of activities included in the festival events will colloquium on the customs and traditions surrounding death in the region, Environment workshops and popular music, represented by both local groups such as the Cartagena Malaguera, for chorus and dances of Lanzarote, Albacete, Murcia Palencia.
Folk Group President 'Ciudad de Cartagena', Pedro Gomez, stated that this year, as new, no costumes exposure but a photographic exhibition of Fernando Navarro in order to refresh the image people have of their past more .
As the lineup chosen for this year's Festival, a traditional fixture of the wakes, is the work of painter Palma Pérez Casanova, as were the signs of the previous editions.
The festival has a budget of 36,000 euros, of which almost half is contributed by the City of Cartagena.
