The Youth Council of the City of Cartagena has been invited to present the municipal project 'The Box of Time' at the Second Biennial Leisure Vitoria-Gasteiz, organized by the municipality of that city, which is being held during the 25, 26 and 27 June in the capital of Alava.
The meeting has the theme 'Alternative leisure in the new society', and it has brought together some 150 professionals involved in the management of leisure (technicians, educators, managers, etc.) To discuss and reflect on new challenges emerging in a context of various social changes, such as the spread of information technologies and communication, the new family, multiculturalism, leisure consumption and the need to contribute from this area for improvement being and quality of life for all people without excluding anyone.
Connecting with this final challenge took place on Wednesday the launch of 'The Box of Time' as an alternative leisure, since 2005, is to react in the free time to youth groups from five areas of the municipality, in many times and due to certain sociocultural and economic barriers, are excluded from the resources that are offered.
Attendees particularly appreciated the experience Cartagena for their efforts in promoting social participation through the work of community service performed by young participants, as well as high involvement with the entities of the social fabric of neighborhoods in the development of this project.
Next to 'The Box of Time' there have been other experiences, such as consolidated and International Games Festival Vitoria-Gasteiz, whose thirteenth edition is celebrated these days occupy different places in the city in order to promote learning and intergenerational social relationship.
'Box of Time' has been released before in other forums such as the International Youth Meetings or the Conference Gijón Municipal Youth Policy of L'Hospitalet de Llobregat.
