The Ministry of Sustainable Development and Spatial Planning has formally received today the most modern equipment available today to monitor air quality, on loan from AES enterprises, Gas Natural, Iberdrola and Repsol-YPF, under agreement with the Regional Administration Aries System (Atmospheric Research In Escombreras Valley), which is already operating at full capacity.
In particular, the Ministry receives the megaordenador business cluster, three meteorological towers installed in the Campo de Cartagena and the Valley of tailings and a 'sodar' or meteorological sounding system that integrates weather network on the ground and complemented with Regional Network Monitoring Air Quality.
Councilor Benito Mercader said that "technological equipment donated by these companies allows us to complete our current system of monitoring air pollution and other meteorological network broadcast.
These three networks are integrated into the Aries system and provide comprehensive information that sets the stage lines of concentration values of air quality on a map at different scales with 48 hours in advance.
This prediction will allow decisions about future scenarios of contamination in tailings and its area of influence and the relationship of possible actions to prevent exceedances of air quality thresholds. "
The originality of the Aries system, which has invested 1.3 million, is based on the collaboration of business, involving all levels of government (national, regional and local) and the innovation of management system quality air, the more modern works in Spain.
This project is the response of control over air quality with implementation of action plans for taking preventive measures in case of exceedances of threshold limits for air pollution.
