The hall of the Cultural Center will host Luzzy Ramón Alonso on Monday, June 16, starting at 20.00 hours, the commemoration of 2008 as the European Year of Intercultural Dialogue, organized by the city of Cartagena, one of the first, along with Barcelona, to sign up for this project which now involves 40 municipalities.
During the event, which will chair the Mayor, Pilar Barreiro, will make a statement on intercultural coexistence in the city of Cartagena, Aouatif by Luis Antonio Morocho Oubai and representatives of immigrant associations.
Among other institutional interventions, including with technical advisor for International Cultural Cooperation of the Ministry of Culture, Josefina Lopez Conejo.
In addition, a screening of the DVD 'Cartagena, united in diversity', and will intervene intercultural ambassador of the European Union and musician Jordi Savall, who is responsible for the closure of the commemoration with a concert of early music 'East and West' .
The artist will be received in advance by the mayor, at 13.00 pm in the Mayor of the Town Hall.
With regard to socio-cultural integration, the City of Cartagena has more than 15 years developing programs and activities aimed at improving intercultural harmony through its various councils: Education, Social Care, Youth, Culture, Women and Sports, among others.
In this area, has pioneered many of these actions, since most of them have been an example to other municipalities of the Region and in Spain.
The commemoration of 2008 as European Year of Intercultural Dialogue, come then to promote existing programs and to innovate with new proposals, involving all kinds of organizations and institutions of the municipality in the celebration of important anniversaries.
