Councillor for Sports, Alonso Gómez López, along with the president of the Olympic Wrestling Federation and related disciplines in the region of Murcia, José María López Gullón, today presented the Championship of Spain Olympic Wrestling School to be held on Saturday, June 7 at the Central Hall of Cartagena.
Alonso Gómez has stressed that the City Council, this event continues the line of work to support all kinds of sports, both majority and minority, and demonstrate maturity in organizing major sporting events, with the participation of representatives here of all regions, which also become visitors of a city of Cartagena which has so much to offer tourists.
In total there are 300 athletes who will participate in the three Olympic disciplines of the competition (free Olympic Greco-Roman and women), some of which could participate in future Mediterranean Games for those who want to compete to host Cartagena.
The competition was held at the Pavilion on three tapestries, in which two unarmed athletes trying to make the hand touch the back on the floor, being forbidden to do harm.
Used to overcome the technical ability, strength, endurance, speed and your weight, through dams and body, according to a preset rule.
Today, Olympic Wrestling Team in the region, recently created, with 25 athletes and, although no Cartagena on it, the fact is that the federation is planning to open a school in Cartagena for the next season, view of the great interest shown by the city in this sport.
The championship was organized Olympic Wrestling Federation and Associated Disciplines Murcia, and has the support of the City of Cartagena, the autonomous region, the Spanish Federation of Wrestling and Sports Council.
