The Plenary of the Municipal Corporation has approved in its meeting this morning, the Statutes of the Roman Amphitheater Foundation Museum of Contemporary Art, which will operate similarly to the Roman Theatre.
The Foundation will be responsible for management and restoration of the ancient remains of the Roman Amphitheatre Cartagena and the bullring, with its surrounding construction of a museum of contemporary art in the Region of Murcia.
Chaired by the President of the Autonomous Community, while the Mayor, Pilar Barreiro, will serve as first vice president.
Its main objectives will focus on managing and realize the project together with the recovery of the Amphitheatre of the old Plaza de Toros and the construction of the Museum of Contemporary Art.
As indicated by the Councillor for Culture, Rosario Montero, a full approval is the necessary step to start.
The socialist municipal group Citizens Movement have maintained the abstention vote of the Committee on Finance and Interior, considering that the Foundation violates certain provisions of representation and participation.
