970 stories were received in this first edition of the International Competition of Cartagena City Stories, organized by the Culture Department of the City of Cartagena and sponsored by Cajamar.
The volume of participation was very high, considering that is the first time this award is convened, which confirmed the success of the event and inclusion, and from birth, the most important events of stories on the national scene.
The largest number of stories came from Spain, followed by a remarkable presence of Argentine stories: the participation of Hispanic writers has been remarkable, receiving also works Uruguay, Paraguay, Mexico, Colombia, Costa Rica, Venezuela, Chile, Ecuador, Peru, Cuba and Puerto Rico.
With regard to Europe, entries were received from Italy, Ireland, Belgium, France, Germany, Denmark and Finland, but also emphasizes the participation of other countries such as USA, Israel, Australia, Thailand and New Zealand.
The participation of the stories from Cartagena has also been numerous.
After much hard work by the reading committee, not only by the volume of stories received, but also by the quality of them, 26 stories have been selected finalists, on which the jury will deliberate to issue a ruling in mid- Next April, the date will be informed of the result and also the composition of the jury.
The award ceremony was held in Cartagena during the week which marks World Book Day.
