Cartagena municipal police no longer have to go to headquarters to give a party and warnings for incidents that occur on city streets.

And, starting tomorrow, officials will have a new tool that will facilitate and speed to work on the street: the Blackberry 8300 Smartphone handset.

Local police in Cartagena, in collaboration with the Data Processing Center, developed the draft MOBILITY 08, which is the use of Blackberry 8300 Smartphone terminals to provide real time information and update those incidents instantly for which designed, eliminating time-based consulting the police and improving the subsequent processing of the incidents.

The project includes the training of employees in these new enabled device, as well as applications developed by the Data Processing Center, a course which will run from Tuesday.

These devices have a camera phone, media player, expandable memory, Voice Dialing, BlackBerry ® Maps and trackball navigation, GPS, email, text messages, instant messaging, web browser and advanced phone functionality.

In the first phase of this project MOBILITY-08, which will operate as a period of adaptation of agents to this new tool, the police may, through its terminal, perform the following services:

People Identification

Vehicle Identification

Municipal consultations to Street

Control Pasadena

SMS Management Emergency Notices

Access to the municipal website, the Intranet and the municipal police in Cartagena.

Initially be made available to the agents a total of ten telephone terminals, number that will increase as the new service is incorporated into the daily work of staff.

In a second phase - for the month of September - will be accessible from the terminal to incidents related to truancy, control of works and facilities, control of markets and abandoned vehicles.

In a third phase of the project will undertake the cost of traffic lights and infrastructures, sending photos and GPS location of the place of the incident.

MOBILITY-08 project was completed with five laptops to be installed in police vehicles.

Through UMTS cards can continuously access the information servers via the Internet, to serve the entire municipality.

The use of the telephone terminal by the units that are on the street will also allow the Police Base is released for emergency and urgent care.
