AES Corporation meets their expectations after a year of operation (10/04/2008)

The mayor of Cartagena, Pilar Barreiro, received this morning the visit of the new director of AES Corporation, Ficara Francisco, which, from the Central Company in Caracas after the change of direction that occurred six months ago, takes command of the combined cycle plant has been operating in the Valley of tailings from a year ago.

According to Francis Ficara, who came to her appointment accompanied by the delegate of the company in Cartagena, Antonio de Lara, despite being a small business that is generating electricity at the national level, it is certain to be meeting expectations so that the company supplies about 1,200 megawatts and is adapting to the demands of the Spanish market, which in 2007 reached the 260,000 gigawatt / hour.

The goal of a combined cycle plant is generating electricity using the heat produced when gas is burned, which is an alternative to other energy sources such as wind or water.

In addition, these plants get the energy available in a short time, about 20 or 30 minutes.

In this sense, the seasonality is one of the factors influencing the demand for energy production from such plants, so that the tailings Valley has produced a lot this past winter because it has been dry and little wind have been , which has lowered the production of hydropower and wind power and has resorted to alternative energy.

Currently, the company AES Cartagena has about 65 workers on staff and maintains a policy aimed at supporting social involvement such charitable institutions such as associations of Down syndrome patients, diabetics, etc.
