The Mayor, Pilar Barreiro, received this morning the organizers of the Festival Flamenco de Lo Ferro, which is held annually in Torre Pacheco, which this year will be 22 to 31 August.
Festival director, Francisco Aparicio, said that the reason for the visit is that this year, the Twenty-ninth, will pay tribute to the city of Cartagena.
The Mayor, Pilar Barreiro, will receive the Gold Medal of the festival, which also will be honored figure Rocío Jurado, with the presence of Ortega Cano and the family of the singer.
The festival this year, Regional Tourist Interest, will be attended by Fosforito, creator of 'Ferrena', a song typical of Lo Ferro, and other like Raul Alcantara 'The Trojan' (Melon de Oro 2007), Miguel Tena or La Fragua de Sevilla.
Aparicio also noted that he has offered the mayor the opportunity to make a gala FAO in Cartagena to raise funds to get water wells in the neediest countries.
Last year the gala was in Torre Pacheco.
It is that solidarity has always been associated with this festival.
Aparicio recalled that the only one who spends 60% of their finery to charities such as the AECC, Alcer, Prometheus or the Multiple Sclerosis Association.
For his part, President de la Peña Flamenca Golden Melon, Mariano Escudero, has indicated that more than 200 young talents in flamenco contest this year.
In addition, the May 2 will be a Grand Gala Flamenca at Civic Center Roldán Theater, with the winner of the 2007 Golden Melon, Raúl Alcántara 'The Troy,' and the 2002 Mining Lamp, Manuel Cuevas as guest artists.
