Three novels, three authors, and 2,000 readers ...

but only one can be the winner, and Mandarache Award this year, more democratic literary award has gone to the hands of Valladolid Gustavo Martín Garzo, for his novel "My dear Eva, who has been the most votes from the Cartagena hundreds of young people who participated in this project this year to promote reading.

Since September 2007 the young participants (college, high school students, young associates or registered for free) to participate in the committee structure have Mandarache reading novels read and discussed them freely facilitated the organization of the award and have been found with the three finalists authors, talk to them, ask questions and share your impressions before the time came to vote.

The vote, which ended April 18, was conducted entirely through the Award's website (www.premiomandarache.es).

At the end have exercised their right to vote a total of 1,725 readers, 88.7% of the total 1,944 that make up the jury, a percentage that the organizers consider it a successful venture.

The prize of 3,000 euros and a sculpture by artist Angel Haro, will be delivered on Friday May 16 at 11:30 pm at the Teatro Circo Cartagena by the Mayor of Cartagena, Pilar Barreiro Ms.

In this event, also will be announced the three finalists novels of the next issue.

Mandarache prize is an original strategy to promote reading among young people created by the Youth Council of the City of Cartagena and public libraries and developed from the work of an advocacy group that integrates the efforts of teachers, booksellers, publishers , neighborhood associations, libraries, youth clubs and young players and that is producing excellent results in their quest to create new young readers.

Mandarache program has become in just four years in a flagship project of the Youth Council of the City of Cartagena and one of the models to promote innovative and effective reading of Spain.
