Modernism in Cartagena, Architecture and Society of the Grand Hotel and à ‰ little, is offered as a course aimed at professionals, students, industry and others who want to deepen the knowledge of this landmark building and other Modernist works
To mark the centenary of the opening of the Grand Hotel, the Polytechnic University of Cartagena and Beltrí Commission, in cooperation with the City of Cartagena, they have called the course Modernism in Cartagena, Architecture and Society of the Grand Hotel and à ‰ little, included in the Year of Modernism Cartagena 2016.
The aim of this course is to deepen the knowledge of the Grand Hotel, a landmark in the modernist architectural icons southeast Spanish, posing as an open forum where present, discuss and update knowledge on this landmark building, modernism in the city and its region and the relationship with architecture and modern arts.
The course, lasting 25 hours, will be held on 23 and 24 February and 1, 2, 8 and 9 March in the Graduate Hall Elias Hernandez of the School of Architecture and Building UPCT (Paseo Alfonso XIII ).
The course will host a maximum of 80 students and will run from 16:00 to 20:15 hours.
The call is aimed at professionals in the architecture and archaeologists, building engineers, professional restoration and conservation of historical and architectural heritage, students of careers related to the sector and people interested in the preservation and dissemination of Architectural Heritage sector Historical and Cultural Region of Murcia.
The direction of the course will be provided by Pierre-Henry Collado Mirror, School of Architecture and Building UPCT and Jose Antonio Rodriguez Martin, vice president of the Commission Beltrí 2012.

2016 YEAR OF MODERNISM CARTAGENA
On day 21, the mayor, Jose Lopez, presented at the International Tourism Fair (FITUR) in Madrid, the Year of Modernism in Cartagena.
A day later, he gave the program of events beginning with the opening of the photo exhibition Celestino Martinez and the Grand Hotel, shows that draws pictures of Miguel Martinez, son of Celestino and the book of the same name, writer's work and architect Jose Manuel Chacon.
Modernism Year will organize a series of activities, including exhibitions, conferences, concerts, recreational activities, routes, competitions, audiovisual editing, books and educational materials that represent the uniqueness of Modernism in Cartagena, a temporary space that ended marking the contemporary development of the municipality.
For the design and definition of the program of activities of the Year of Modernism in Cartagena has set up a desk, coordinated by the Office of Mayor, in which municipal officers of Culture and Tourism are integrated, the municipal coordinator of Historical and Archaeological Heritage The Beltrí Commission, the Polytechnic University of Cartagena, and other professionals.
