The Minister of Public Works and Infrastructures, Francisco Barnabas, said today that the regional government plans soon tender the contract for drafting the study of technical and economic viability of the Logistics Activities Area (ZAL) of Cartagena, which is expected to develop in the industrial area of ​​Los Camachos.
Bernabe said that the intention of the Department is to initiate the administrative procedure for the recruitment of that study, "be approved as soon the budget of the Community for this exercise," which discuss and vote Tuesday in the Regional Assembly and the which it has included an item of 60,000 euros to produce the document.
"This is a technical study to be conducted by consultants and professionals best qualified for that purpose, who will determine and define how it will be the logistics area and comprehensive projection," said Barnabas, after a meeting at the palace Aguirre in Cartagena, with the presidents of the Confederation of Organizations of Cartagena (COEC), Pedro Pablo Hernández, and the Chamber of Commerce of Cartagena, Miguel Agustin Martinez.
"Once that is already defined that the site had to be in Los Camachos, a proposal from the Ministry of Public Works and has the general consensus at the political, business and social level, now proceeds further progress in the design and configuration this project, "said counselor.
The study will answer the need for a ZAL in Cartagena, its characteristics and its development, with the purpose of distributing the surface and the spaces and work phases in which it will run.
It will also analyze best connections by road and rail with the logistical node, the location of the intermodal station and the type of companies that you can accept.
COEC presidents and Chamber of Commerce have moved counselor needs of the region in the food industry and port activities: transport of cattle, creating the Ciudad del Transporte, free warehouse (space for the storage of goods) and terminal container.
All these aspects will be analyzed in this study as well as its economic and financial assessment, for, first, the processing of grant applications, through the Ministry, to the European institutions for drafting studies and projects enable developing ZAL in Cartagena.
Similarly, business leaders have informed the Minister of the existence of a significant number of companies in the region interested in this project.
