A technical seminar studies the promotion of peaceful coexistence of Cartagena (25/01/2016)

Technicians and citizens interested in knowing the resources available to the Old Town and the Cartagena Station Sector met in the School of Telecommunications during Friday 22 to attend a conference that is part of Project Intercultural Community .

Carmen Martin, Councillor for Social Services, was in charge of presenting this event dubbed Knowledge Community, accompanied by the rector of students and university extension UPCT, Francisco Martin;

director of Greater Business Caixabank Cartagena, Diego Garcia-Esteller;

and Juan Antonio Segura, director of the Foundation Cepaim.

They then welcomed the attendees Maria Jose Alonso, deputy medical director of Greater Health 2 and Damian Perez Olmos, coordinator of Social Services City of Cartagena, who focused his speech on Managing Diversity in the city of our city.

Through a participatory process and joint work, this team of professionals Neighborhoods Sector Station Old Town and shared the information transferred by different councils of the City, of Greater Health 2 and social entities.

All this is a part of the study they are doing and that, as a whole, is expected to be completed in late March.

Community monograph is the first analysis of the resources, the people and the situation in terms of peaceful coexistence and social cohesion.

The study will allow them to advance and deepen about the difficulties and advantages that count in these neighborhoods.

The most important of this study is to have a vision shared by the three actors involved in the transformation of society realities: administrations, technical resources and citizenship.

In this community process technical-citizen work has involved professionals and students from the Polytechnic University of Cartagena, Rea Health 2 Health Center Historic Area, Center for Mental Health, Red Cross, Department of Social Services, Municipal Immigration Unit , Youth Council, Department of Gender, Sports Department, Agency of Local Development and Employment, The Huertecica Collective Association, College Board Sacred Heart of Jesus, Cepaim Foundation, Foundation Marraja Nuestro Padre Jesus Nazareno, Espada IES, IES Isaac Peral, citizens and representatives of the Parish Sacred Heart of Jesus, in addition to the Intercultural Community Relations team, which has acted as facilitator of this community process, providing methodology for analysis.

The task does not end here, because now they lack the support and the subjective view of neighbors, other technicians and representatives of local and regional government about the reality of these neighborhoods, who will be invited to participate in the next meeting spaces where They collect their contributions (through seminars).

DRAFT INTERVENCIÃ "intercultural community N (ICI)

This initiative is part of the Intercultural Community Intervention Project promoted by the Obra Social La Caixa in 39 territories throughout Spain characterized by high cultural diversity.

The initiative consists of a preventive and promotional intervention that promotes intercultural relations, promoting social cohesion and, ultimately, seeks the empowerment of society in favor of coexistence and community development.
