Deputy Mayor, Ana Belen Castejon, will request an urgent meeting of the Government Delegate to address the alarming increase in robberies in rural areas of the municipality that for weeks have been occurring continuously in companies and private homes in Cartagena councils as Pozo Estrecho, La Palma, El Albujón, Miranda or physicians.
The last of these thefts occurred yesterday when four members of a family were gagged inside his home in Pozo Estrecho by several assailants to steal valuables inside the house.
Castejon said that the situation is unacceptable neglect and lack of protection for merchants and residents in the absence of monitoring by the Civil Guard in these rural areas, especially when the director of the Civil Guard, Arsenio Fernandez de Mesa, admitted last Friday lack of more than 200 troops in the region since the replacement rate in recent years had fallen by 88% because of the cuts resulting from the economic crisis.
From the Deputy Mayor also noted that it was the Ministry of Interior, during the government of Rajoy, who fell in 2012 templates in a 2.27% in the case of Murcia, so that the region suffered the biggest cuts to fourth effective national level within the Forces of State Security.
For this reason, Castejon has demanded that the number of agents originally entered the barracks of the Civil Guard Albujón council to deal with the Meritorious powers entrusted to it in these rural areas is restored.
Deputy Mayor said it is unfair that, for lack of resources and means, are these areas of the most affected population and who do not have the strength corresponding to it as they are essential to ensure the tranquility of the residents and employers and customers developing their economic activity in the area and who have suffered some kind of assault in recent weeks.
