With hundreds of years of service to Cartagena, the Marine Corps is one of the older units that exist in the city.
The historical link of this body of the Navy has led the National Federation of Associations of Marine Corps to promote a campaign to raise in Cartagena a monument to the Marines by popular subscription.
The monument will consist of a full-scale figure that requires an investment of 35,000 euros.
The final figure will represent this group will be decided in the first week of February, having scheduled to open May 14, 2016 at Plaza del Rey, facing the door of the Arsenal.
This infant will add to other figures characteristics of the Armed Forces as the Army soldier and sailor replacement with the city already has in the vicinity of the Heroes of Cavite plaza.
The initiative was promoted by the Legion of Veterans Marine Corps (TERVET), National Federation of Veterans Marine Corps (FEVIM), National Association of Veterans Marine Corps (Avime) and Association of officers and NCOs Corps Marina (AOSCIM).
