Yesterday we read the statements that made the regional spokesman for the Popular Party, Javier Iniesta, valuing as "absurd" the initiative of four municipalities that set the stage for promoting a framework of solidarity between municipalities, which could crystallize into concrete action, pooling services or creating a central shared purchases by municipalities, which would mean a saving in its coffers, boosting the regionalization that has not been developed by the CARM despite being included in the Statute of Autonomy.
It is recalled that the Statute of Autonomy of the Region of Murcia stated in its Preliminary Title, Article 3, paragraph 2, "The Autonomous Community of Murcia is organized territorially into municipalities and counties. The municipalities have full legal personality and autonomy for management of the interests which they represent. The regions also have full legal personality and autonomy to fulfill the purposes attributed to them by law. "
In paragraph 3 of the same article it says that "Municipalities may be grouped together on a voluntary basis for the execution of works and management of common services, according to the law issued by the region."
I can not but wonder at valuations that show an incomprehensible fear of the fulfillment of the law, as in the aforementioned regionalization.
Even the possibility of creating new provinces is an option under our Constitution.
Article 141.1 states that "The province is a local entity with legal personality, arising from the grouping of municipalities and territorial division for the fulfillment of the State's activities. Any alteration of provincial boundaries will have to be approved by Parliament by organic Law".
I ask that the regional PP respects the full contents of our Constitution, and not only those contents that match their political positioning.
Iniesta demonstrations venture into the most absolute cynicism.
That acknowledgment try to increase spending, structures and bureaucracy is absolutely insane.
Otherwise just it is looking to reduce spending our municipalities and optimize resources so that our neighbors are treated fairly.
It is inadmissible that the Campo de Cartagena, which accounts for 26% of the regional population, contributing further to its GDP with 33%, do not have to change or a third of the amount contributed.
Solidarity between municipalities is necessary, and we are more than agree with it, but the regional government only understands one way, all other municipalities to the city of Murcia.
In their assessments, Iniesta accused of generating "a greater distance between citizens and institutions, in addition to swell the difficulties of citizens when interacting with the institutions."
Obviously the goal is diametrically opposite, since effective decentralization is desired, which will make the residents feel closer and identified with the administrations.
Iniesta would be desirable, and others who have spoken but think like him, to stop navel-gazing and ensure with equal care by the 45 municipalities in the region, and not only for the capital, increasingly widespread perception in the whole of our Community.
The current situation requires a thorough internal reflection to determine why we come to this feeling of helplessness that more and more citizens feel about their regional rulers.
