"This causes a substantial increase in scores of hotels, especially those who get a lower valuation," write the researchers also they point out that this peculiar system would cause Booking could increase your sales.
The three say that today is "fundamental" for hotel and researchers know the functioning of the pages that collect reviews for the hotel sector.
In this sense, Booking and TripAdvisor are two of the leading websites in this regard, as have databases of millions of guest reviews.
As for transparency of booking portals.
They note that the rating system review "relatively transparent", whereas Booking is necessary to make a hotel reservation and pay to watch their scoring system works.
"This is also positive, in a way, as you make sure that people who rate, has actually been in that hotel," says Mellinas.
