On the occasion of the celebration of International Migrants Day, on Saturday held a Solidarity march, organized by the Association ACCEM and Red Cross, which had the support of the City of Cartagena, through the Department of Sports and Social Services.
The march was part of the activities from different social organizations and in cooperation with the municipality, had been scheduled to commemorate the International Day of Migration, held on 18 December.
The solidarity march brought together over a hundred people who wanted to support this awareness campaign and approach to the plight of refugees and immigrants, who are having to leave their countries for very different reasons.
Cartagena is one of the founders of the Network of Intercultural Cities (RECI) and is a city that welcomes refugees and so proclaimed the Municipal Council on 7 September when Cartagena's accession to the inter-city network of approved refugee reception.
This activity included the participation and collaboration of Cartagena Andrés Lledó athlete who wanted to show their support to present a reality that, from his own professional experience, daily lives, when they have to intervene in the rescues of people trying to reach our shores.
The march was held in a very friendly atmosphere, enlivened by the music of some young people, who wanted to bring that joy and strength that helps them overcome difficult situations.
After completing the tour, marking and guided by Andrés Lledó, was again read out the Institutional Manifesto, by the sportsman who sponsored the activity, representatives of Red Cross and Accem.
Finally, the Circle of Silence recalled the high number of people are losing their lives and made ​​an appeal to the leaders and rulers to end this serious migratory movement, which is endangering the lives of entire families.
Again, the commitment to make Cartagena a supportive and welcoming city, it brought together people who took to the streets to support those who are fleeing war, famine and trying to save his life and those of their families .
