Teachers at the Polytechnic University of Cartagena and Antonio Garcia Jeronimo Esteve presented today at the Port Authority of Valencia's book "The cruise industry: characteristics, actors and their roles," published in the "Transport Economics" series in the collection "Technical Library Valenciaport Foundation".
The authors, Jeronimo Esteve, Naval Technology and Antonio Garcia, Department of Economics, exhaustively analyze the cruiser industry, activity breaks in the maritime and port panorama to the late 60s and early 70s of last century and that led to a new type of tourism and maritime business, traffic and cruise tourism.
According to the authors this new maritime business has changed the face of numerous ports and generated substantial changes in the shipbuilding industry.
Cruise tourism has two policy areas, sea and land.
It also has the peculiarity that the means of transport used, the cruise ship also holds the function of accommodation for the cruise.
The event, held at the premises of the Port Authority of Valencia has benefited from the presence of Antonio Torregrosa, project director of the Valenciaport Foundation.
