The student of Mechanical Engineering at the Polytechnic University of Cartagena (UPCT) Juan Antonio Garcia Martinez won the first edition of 'design, innovation and entrepreneurship' from the center of the Open University in Cartagena with a mobile seat project to improve road safety.
"The idea is installing rails under the seat to move in a crash, reducing the strength of frontal collisions by up to 25%," says the student, 21, who has been based in physics, his passion, and the principle of energy conversion.
"If the user moves more than it slows the vehicle, feels less impact," he argues.
The young student has been estimated that 10 centimeters seat moving in the direction of the direction of travel, a quarter of the force suffered by passengers of a vehicle receiving a head-on collision dissipate.
The seat would slide on the rails automatically when connected to vehicle accidents that detects electrical systems to disconnect sensor.
The idea, applicable to all seats of the vehicle, require safety distances to prevent collisions with other elements of the car.
The project awarded 1,000 euros from the center of Cartagena UNED was jointly presented by Juan Antonio Garcia and student of law at the University Jorge Adrian Sanchez distance Carballido.
The idea of moving seat was developed by the student at the Polytechnic during the course 'Industrial Design', with his teammates Sergio Solano, Antonio Moroccan and Francisco Guillen.
A Juan Antonio would love to see your project materialized, but is clear that the former are tests for which quizzes nights studying in libraries UPCT passed.
