Deputy Mayor and Councillor for Trade, Ana Belen Castejon, announced that the city plans to set up the Local Council for Trade in the coming days to address issues of major significance for the sector of Cartagena.
From the Department to all agents and industry groups will be convened, and among the first matters to be discussed implementation of a plan for revitalization of traditional trade in Cartagena, the proposed extension of Mandarache Mall is encuentranla within the Zone 1 large influx Tourist or design of different actions for revitalizing the commercial sector in districts and councils.
Deputy Mayor said that despite the idyllic image that was intended to trade in Cartagena by the previous government, the feeling experienced by the sector during the past legislatures has been of concern and neglect, as we have seen in multiple meetings with trade associations as municipal food markets, so the feeling has been lived completely abandoned by the municipality.
Deputy Mayor also explained that in the Governing Board meeting today has responded favorably to the request of the Autonomous Community on the inclusion of Mandarache Mall within the large influx Tourist Zone 1 in view of the report of the Regional Defense Service Competition, in which he called into question the criteria for delimitation and reference to the possible impact on the commercial freedom was made.
With this decision, the City Council has processed a request in May 2014 by such Mall, and had not been answered, despite successive requests by the Autonomous Community, and not to occur, as Current rules could have led to the implementation of freedom of times throughout the municipality.
From now on, and fulfilled that procedure, the final decision will depend on the regional administration.
