Citizens spokesman Cartagena, Manuel Padin, along with the councilman, Alfredo Nieto, met today with the Alumbres Residents' Association to hear their complaints and needs.
The representatives of the residents of this town told us that one of their top concerns is the environmental pollution in the area.
The neighbors have been demanding, a time now, a comprehensive epidemiological study in the area to allow control of all emissions in the atmosphere emitted by companies based there.
Also they requested an environmental health workers Escombreras Valley and neighbors, and courses and workshops for education and promote environmental protection.
Neighbors complain that there are not yet adequate preventive measures, denounced the absence of an Emergency Plan conditions and require greater control and periodic inspections on emissions from industrial sites.
Also they described as "pantomime" last evacuation drill held in the town.
Cartagena citizens has collected all these claims and is already considering ways to improve the welfare of all residents of Alumbres.
Citizens spokesman Cartagena, Manuel Padin, acknowledges that "neighbors are very concerned about the lack of control of environmental issues in the area, and fear serious consequences on the health of the population."
Other claims of the residents of Alumbres is to exploit the presence of almost twenty companies in the area to create jobs.
