On November 20 the International Day of the Rights of the Child, worldwide event that, as every year, the city of Cartagena is added, which has organized a program of events through the departments of Social Services and marks education, their elected officials, Carmen Martin and David Martinez, respectively, presented this morning, accompanied by the coordinator of Social Services, Damian Perez Olmos.
This year the emphasis will be on the Right to Welfare, as indicated Martínez, one of the pillars on which rests the Convention on the Rights of the Child, an international treaty which includes economic, social, cultural and political rights all children, and in force since 1990.
In addition, Carmen Martin added that give greater relevance this year to population sectors linked to the social, educational and family environment of the child.
The celebrations begin on Friday 20 November at 10.30 pm with the Walk I Run for your rights, who will leave Carmen Street towards the Town Hall and in which about 450 students participate of a number of schools in the municipality, such as La Concepción, San Isidoro and Santa Florentina, Board Sacred Heart, Santa Maria Micaela, Hannibal, Hasdrubal, Our Lady of the Sea, Stella Maris, Espada, Los Molinos, Isaac Peral, Franciscans and the Polytechnic.
Are also invited to these events the Regional Federation of Mediterranean Women, FAPA Cartagena, Abraham Project, the Association of Charity of St. Vincent de Paul, Ludoteca Lo Campano, Cartagena UNICEF, Red Cross, Columbares, CEPAIM, ICI Project, the Youth Center he ncora, the Boticas Book Lo Campano and José María Lapuerta, Caritas Caritas La Palma and San Diego.
After the march, about 11.30 hours will be held at the Town Hall Square reading a manifesto, which will involve those responsible for Social Services, Culture, Education and Equality, and the end of it will involve children workshop of the Association Rascasa plus a Flashmob prepared for this partnership and choreography for the Rights of Children.
The mayor of Social Services wanted to also remember that the Department has, within the municipal website, a permanent link containing a sample of activities of the past editions, as well as information and addresses as a reference tool.
