The Guardianship Association of People with Disabilities (ASTUS) met this morning to dozens of athletes with intellectual disabilities and cerebral palsy in municipal athletics track in Cartagena.
The Fourth Conference Sports serve to raise awareness of the abilities of people with disabilities through sports.
The meeting took place from 9 to 13 hours and during tests have been carried adapted: running, jumping, shooting, soccer, psychomotor, slalom of electric wheelchairs, boccia (bowls for the disabled).
Councillor of Greater Archaeological Culture and Heritage, Youth and Sports, Ricardo Segado, and the Councillor for Social Services, Carmen Martin, have witnessed much of the development of the tests, exchanged views with leaders of ASTUS, among which He was its president, Joaquin Barbera.
During the morning it has had the collaboration of volunteers, students and IES UCAM Mediterranean.
ASTUS is a non-profit organization born of the union of families in the region.
Has more than 40 years providing various services ranging from early intervention to support school or residency in order to improve the quality of life of people with intellectual disabilities and their families.
In addition, ASTUS up with other 26 institutions in the Community Federation of Organizations for people with Intellectual Disabilities and Cerebral Palsy, FEAPS Murcia, which already represents more than 3,000 families.
