Hall and UPCT seal their commitment to the development of Cartagena (28/10/2015)

The mayor and the president have signed a framework agreement between both institutions in order to collaborate on activities of mutual interest in the economic, social, environmental and educational fields and to improve the training of students at the same time develops today Wednesday urban fabric of the city

The City of Cartagena and UPCT signed Wednesday a framework agreement whereby both institutions agree to collaborate in activities of mutual interest in their educational culture economic, social, environmental significance, scientific, or, aimed at sustainable development and improving the urban fabric of the city.

A rubric that have signed in the Palace Hall Mayor, Jose Lopez, who was accompanied by Deputy Mayor, Ana Belen Castejon, and the rector of the UPCT Jose Antonio Franco.

For Lopez, this agreement represents, firstly, recognition to the Polytechnic University for his contribution to the creation of the urban fabric of the city, but this is a larger framework agreement, which will leave more specific development specific actions.

So, chairs for development of joint management structures aimed at sustainable development of the municipality (urban gardens, landscaping, mobility, wifi¿ points) will be created;

special tax treatment to UPCT by the use of unique buildings, which will be exempt from paying property tax will be studied;

activities to im prove the training of students and officials will be organized;

sports, cultural and tourism promotion activities will be promoted, as well as those that increase the social participation of university students, through municipal programs of the Youth Council as the Language Exchange, Correspondents, Mandarache Prize or the TLA.

It will also delve into other agreements that already exist, such as the r ealización practices in municipal schools by students, or lines of youth volunteering, as noted by the rector, who has reiterated the commitment of the institution to collaborate with the development of the city from the time that the University chose to settle in the town and not in the suburbs, since the creation of the UPCT agreements have been signed with the city council, but none of this caliber, which will allow structures joint management that encourage us all.

And for this agreement comes to fruition, also it foresees the creation of a working group, a Joint Monitoring Committee composed of six members representing both institutions.

The commission will study the proposals of specific agreements, as well as programming, monitoring and evaluation of the actions derived framework agreement, and raise proposals and reports to the governing bodies of both parties.
