The mayor of Cartagena, Jose Lopez, and the Councillor for Tourism, Obdulia Gomez, yesterday attended the meeting convened by the Port Authority to address a common strategy in order to attract cruise passengers to various municipalities of the Murcia region through excursions which may be marketed shipping operating in the Port of Cartagena.
The meeting was attended by mayors and councilors of Tourism of other municipalities like La Union, San Javier, Los Alcazares, San Javier and Lorca, and among them the creation of a working group to design excursions and sightseeing grouping set different tours to offer cruise passengers the variety and richness of heritage resources and leisure Cartagena and other nearby destinations offers.
In this common strategy also the idea of optimizing financial resources in the organization of routes and the development and dissemination of promotional material in different media and channels was raised.
As a second phase of this common strategy, the need for meetings with agents and tour assistance from the International Cruise Summit to be held in Madrid on 18 and 19 November, and where they could contact the main operators was raised working trips in Cartagena in order to invite you to know the range of views available and the possibility that the offer directly to shipping companies.
