President Cofides, the reference company for the financing of companies operating abroad, Murcia Salvador Marin, exconsejero of Economy and Finance of the Region, has moderated today at the Polytechnic University of Cartagena (UPCT) a round table on finding resources for internationalization, in the XVIII Congress of the AECA, the Spanish Association of Accounting and Business Administration.
- How strong are the companies in Murcia in Spanish investment abroad?
Murcia was, in 2014, the community received more support from our fund for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) that invest or are deployed abroad.
One of four euros from this fund were to Murcia companies.
And in all the companies we finance, the region was the third highest volume of investment.
Last year we funded a total of 104 Murcia projects, representing a growth of 500% since 2011.
- The overseas investment involves the relocation of the regional production?
- In all, our requirement for finance companies is to maintain employment here.
In fact, 79% of the companies that has helped internationalize Cofides have increased their jobs in Spain during the crisis.
The companies in the region financed by Cofides employ 25,000 Murcia.
- Is expected to continue to grow Murcia foreign investment?
- Keep in mind that weight in the regional GDP in the foreign sector went from 22% in 2011 to 35%.
Growth and is not in any developed economy.
The objective we set ourselves then, and it seemed impossible, to overcome exports 10,000 million, it has been exceeded.
Now, first, the challenge is to maintain that, although domestic consumption is increasing, Murcia companies continue looking out.
A second challenge is that more SMEs to join internationalization, so it would be convenient to join to gain muscle.
We have the potential to reach our external sector account for up to 45 or 50% of GDP.
With numbers like that, we would have a huge resistance to the next crisis.
- What is the profile Murcia companies that invest outside?
- 75% of them are SMEs.
And fundamentally belong to the food industry, both fed and agricultural technologies.
They are also very important the energy sector, especially renewables, and providing engineering services.
- What value is talk of internationalization in this Congress?
- It is very important to Cartagena and this Congress UPCT made here is highly commendable and have brought together the main actors, public and private, in financing for internationalization.
