This is the case of the painter and sculptor Esteban Bernal, born in La Union but very linked to Cartagena, which from Wednesday 30 September exposed Review: 30 years in the exhibition hall of the Palace Molina.
In the author's words, it is a very didactic exhibition, which gathers around fifty works grouped in stages responding to different parts of his life and the reflection of the same. ESTEBAN BERNAL - RE-VISION "N: 30 YEARS
Coinciding with the 30th anniversary (1985-2015) of the opening of his first solo exhibition as a professional, right here in Cartagena, in the now defunct art gallery Wssel in Cannon Street, the artist takes advantage of the occasion to take a break in your itinerary and make a reflection / re-look at some of the different stages developed over about fifty solo exhibitions and more than a hundred group exhibitions in which he participated as a painter and sculptor.

She has dedicated some of his works and she exhibited some of his public sculptures as Homage to crafts, located in the gardens of the municipal services of urbanism (former headquarters of the Craft Centre), or the creation of the poster Week of Naval Cinema and the Sea of 1992. The People's University began his experience as a teacher, where he was professor of Drawing and Painting from 1985 to 1987, before obtaining the title of Professor of Secondary Education and the Chair of Drawing in 2011.
CONTENT
The 60 selected works on exhibit is divided into five major series.
Given the generous dimensions of the exhibition hall of the Palace Molina, the occasion is ideal for them to display large works that require adequate space for display.
Most of them belong to private collectors who have temporarily given selflessly.
Among them is a sculpture and installation.
The selection criteria has met quality and more convenient input for a better reading and understanding of the whole didactic exhibition discourse.
The exhibition is divided into five major thematic periods corresponding to the years indicated:
I dunes and beaches, the beginning (1983-1986), more matéricas and gestural works inspired by La Manga.
Mediterranean II (1986-1989), which recreates and studies the relationship between man and the sea, the Mediterranean cultural relations, castaways and shipwrecks ...
Still Life III (1989-2002), years of research on color and texture based on still life.
Termas IV (2003-2011), more architectural works that analyze the filtered lights and reflections in water spaces that invite relaxation and meditation.
Lighthouses V (2013-2015), last series in which there is a return to sea with light architectures show a greater interest in drawing and transparencies.
