The International Relations of the Polytechnic University of Cartagena (UPCT) today received more than a hundred students Erasmus who will attend the first semester or the whole year in the UPCT.
For the first time they join the European exchange program students from countries outside the European Union, such as Macedonia and India.
Throughout the course they will go through the university about 250 Erasmus, 10% more than last year, as confirmed by the director general of universities, Luis Javier Lozano, who has come to the reception by the rector of International Relations and Cooperation Development, Jose Manuel Ferrandez.
Lozano said that these students "will be the best ambassadors may have UPCT" because when they return home they will present both the port city as the Polytechnic University of Cartagena.
Already students and Aldo Hernandez, who comes from Mexico, which has opted for Cartagena because he had heard of the research topics developed in college.
He shall send Industrial Engineering and expected stay "learn a lot and enjoy much of the city that seems pretty nice."
Others like the German Lia Heyd, student of Administration and Management, said his choice was due "to Spain and I love my university had an agreement with the UPCT, so we'll see how it goes."
Foreign students come from various European countries and Latin America, and come to take courses of the degrees offered in the UPCT, to make the final degree or work experience in services or departments of the university project.
This "Welcome Day" has also attended Erasmus Students Association Section Candidate Cartagena Network (ESN Cartagena SC), formerly known as International Students Association Cartagena (ISAC), which works for all international exchange students, and European volunteers other international young people who make a temporary stay in Cartagena, promoting their integration into local life and culture.
Possible reception of Syrian students
On the other hand, the general director of Universities reported that UPCT is considering to host Syrian university students who have fled the war in their country.
"We have to evaluate things very well when quotas of refugees who come to the city and if someone has to go to college are known".
UPCT already had a Syrian refugee studying Architecture in 2013.
