International Coastal Cleanup, Ocean Conservancy and the European Environment Association, coordinating entity of the project in Spain International Coastal Cleanup, have recognized the work of Implica2 Programme (Young People Engaged in Cartagena) of the Youth Council, for his contribution in organizing and voluntary participation in the largest event in the world on behalf of the oceans.
Data from more than 12 million volunteers in thousands of cleanings during the past 29 years worldwide, have been the basis in different countries to develop legislation, improve packaging and technology s to be less polluting and create social awareness about the need to recycle and not throw waste into the environment.
In the four years it takes to coordinate the project in Spain, have mobilized nearly 6,000 volunteers in more than 190 cleanups in different parts of the country.
The Youth Council, pleased by this recognition, considers an incentive to continue in line with the promotion of youth volunteering, involving the youth in Cartagena collaboration and participation in the care of nature and, in general, the municipality of Cartagena involvement also of the new administration.
