The city of Cartagena hosted last Saturday, the celebration of the International IBFF bodybuilding and Fitness Championships, organized by the Spanish sports federation responsible for this, the Cartagena Pablo Ceron and Jorge Barquero, president and vice president respectively.
The event was attended by nearly 100 athletes arrived from different parts of Spain and countries such as Croatia, Serbia, Italy, Portugal, South Africa, Argentina, Holland, England and Slovenia.
The high participation of athletes, both male and female categories, made the championship celebration will last for the whole day, with a peak in the early afternoon.
Family and fans filled the sports facilities of the Industrial Cabezo de Beaza, awaiting the decision of an international jury headed by Dusko Madzarovic, president IBFF.
The classification of the main participants categories was as follows:
Absolute champion male: Ángel Calderón (Spain)
Absolute female champion Elena Zdjelar (Croatia)
Champion average size: Joseph Brown (Spain)
Champion stunting: Ángel Calderón (Spain)
Champion over 40: Jonh Gerard (Spain)
Champion over 70: Dion Friedlan (South Africa)
Best poser: Calton Juan Gines (Spain)
Besides the satisfaction for having been in the top three of a championship high level, some of the competitors got a card that accredits them as professionals IBFF and makes them part of the national team of their country of origin which may well IBFF participate in the World Championship to be held next Sunday in Slovenia and in other professional championships organized by the federation.
Among the Spanish who obtained accreditation as a professional athlete are Jonh Gerard and Joseph Brown.
The event was attended by the Coordinator of Sports Activities of the City of Cartagena, Eduardo Armada.
The next international meeting with the federation will be next Sunday in Slovenia.
