Group researchers Economy, Planning and the Environment of the Polytechnic University of Cartagena (UPCT) studied the optimal tariff system of urban water supply in the municipality of Murcia.
The aim is to maximize the welfare of consumers of water, while consistent with the financial balance of supply companies, according to the lead researcher Miguel Angel Tobarra.
This research, which begins this month, is part of the collaboration agreement signed by the rector of the Polytechnic University of Cartagena, Jose Antonio Franco and the general director of the Municipal Water and Sanitation of Murcia (Emuasa), José Albaladejo.
The objective of the agreement is to promote research and innovation related to urban water demand.
The agreement will also accommodate other issues such as the study of the influence of urban design in the urban water demand, because the needs are different depending on the type of housing, the impact of temperature rise in consumption or increase of welfare of citizens caused by improvements in water quality, says Tobarra, Department of Economics UPCT.
The agreement will run for three years and during that time, seminars and courses for employees Emuasa, to be taught by teachers UPCT specializing in water issues will be promoted.
