Cartagena is held for the sixth year at the head of the Spanish Mediterranean in number of Blue Flag beaches, second only to Sanxenxo in Galicia, in recognition of this type.

So, this year obtained blue flag beaches of Cala del Pino, Minor Islands (Levante Beach), Minor Islands (West), Mar de Cristal, Cala Cortina, San Ginés, Paradise Beach, Levante (Cabo de Palos), Isla Plana and Playa Honda.

These flags are added to the Q of Quality Beaches, award in which Cartagena is first municipality in Spain since she started to elect them in 2009.
