Pedro Antonio Garcia, candidate of Union Progreso y Democracia mayor of Cartagena, wants to implement specific protocols within the local police against gender violence within the LGBT community.
It also aims to train agents in preventing homophobia and transphobia, "with particular emphasis on legal training in those aspects of the legislation guaranteeing equal treatment and non-discrimination on grounds of sexual orientation and identity gender ".
Garcia made these statements after the working meeting held with the Galactyco group, which presented the proposals on equality UPyD.
Also it claims support services and guidance to young lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT).
Thus, this support service would be included within the network of youth centers and leisure that aims to implement training magenta around the town of Cartagena.
On the other hand, Garcia wants to develop information and awareness campaigns related to health needs and health care of this group.
"These programs should include prevention of the AIDS virus, going beyond the celebration of the World Day which takes place on December".
In addition, another initiative proposed by Garcia would be the inclusion of sections devoted to LGBT area in municipal libraries, after acquiring bibliographical and audiovisual materials necessary "in order to address these realities from an open vision for sexual diversity".
In this regard, the candidate Pedro Antonio Garcia defends free access from municipal schools and public libraries to those LGBT web content currently locked.
Finally, Cartagena UPyD proposes equal treatment and social inclusion for LGBT people's children in nurseries, children's centers, schools and other public services.
