The City of Cartagena and the Polytechnic University of Cartagena have signed an agreement, valid for two years, with the intention of making an inventory of existing rural roads in the city and know their condition with the main objective to avail funds European and other administrations and keep them in good condition.

At the signing ceremony attended by the mayor of Cartagena, Pilar Barreiro, the rector of the UPCT, Jose Antonio Franco Leemhuis and the Councillor for Agriculture, Nicolás Ángel Bernal.

The agreement, which is valid for two years, conducted the development of a rural road map.

The mayor said that for this map, the City Council will be supported by the Polytechnic University, thanks to this agreement, will be in charge of preparing this study: We took advantage of the technical skills and resources of the University to conduct this study.

The University City will provide a total of 20,000 euros to finance the study.

The mayor also explained that the City has been working on recovery, servicing and maintenance of rural roads.

Pilar Barreiro recalled that the last performance between the municipality and the Ministry has been the refurbishment of two kilometers of roads in the counties of La Magdalena and the Plan totaling 70,000 euros. In order to continue working in this line is so this agreement is signed.

The rector of the UPCT also explained that it is a substantial work for the university.
