The rector of the UPCT, Jose Antonio Franco, has signed this morning with the mayor of Cartagena, Pilar Barreiro, an agreement for consulting activities and technical assistance for the inventory, characterization and conservation status of rural roads.
Through this agreement, the City 20 000 euros financed the study, which aims, as explained by the municipal councilor, "draw a map to know the reality and we have come to power after European funds or other authorities to recover those ways. "
During the signing, the rector of the Polytechnic thanked City Council for confidence "that since college tasks performed for the benefit of the inhabitants of the districts" and warned that "there is a lot of work to do."
At the moment kilometers of rural roads that exist in the municipality of Cartagena are unknown, although Barreiro recalled that in the region there are 425 kilometers, "and if we consider that Cartagena is the second largest municipality in the region, we believe that most are of Cartagena. "
With this inventory not only the location of rural roads will be brought, but also the ownership of the same, that is, whether they are public or private, and the number of kilometers they understand.
According to the mayor of Cartagena, the work will start by the Aljorra, Perín, the Ports of Santa Barbara and Campo Nubla and will be extendable to the rest of the municipality.
The aim of this work is to recover and condition these roads, as was done recently in the last performance of the Ministry of Agriculture and the city of Cartagena, where 70 000 euros were invested to remodel 2 kilometers of road.
