Three hundred athletes and technical staff from 19 countries on three continents (Europe, Africa and America) will meet from Tuesday in Cartagena in the International Boxing Tournament, which was presented to the media this morning by director General of Youth and Sports, Antonio Peñalver;
Councillor for Sports, Diego Ortega and the presidents of the federations of boxing, Spanish and Murcia, Antonio Martin Galan and Felipe Martinez Martinez, respectively.
The event will be held in two phases in the Municipal Sports Pavilion Wssell Guimbarda street.
On Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday are preliminary;
while the semifinals will be held on Friday 8 May and the final on Saturday, 9th.
In the male c ategory, which will take place in the afternoon, involving about 95 fighters, the most numerous, the Spanish delegations with 22 and France's ten.
The fighting of the women will compete in the mornings.
There will be 63 female boxers in the ring.
Delegations with more representatives be the Spanish and German with seven each.
Admission during the preliminary phase will be free, while for the semifinals and the final will be a bonus of ten euros, which will give the opportunity to witness some 45 battles.
The president of the Spanish Federation, Antonio Martin, thanked the support of the City of Cartagena and the Autonomous Community, which have made ​​possible the recovery of this international tournament that was held in Spain for seven years.
For his part, President of the Murcia, Felipe Martinez, stressed the importance of this tournament for each of the national teams are preparing their teams for the Olympics and that can be seen in Cartagena, so we expect a significant response fans.
