Hunger knows no holiday and many children from disadvantaged families in Cartagena who can not not even a decent meal a day, especially during holiday periods when school cafeterias close their doors.
Therefore, Winning Cartagena, integrated by IU-Greens and SPCT coalition ensure that children belonging to these families and fewer resources can make that daily meal fit for establishing a policy of opening up school meals, even during holiday periods, focusing in this work in areas of the municipality in which there is a greater volume of people in this situation.
Rosa María Mateo, number two on the list of Winning Cartagena, said that "we will ensure the functioning of school canteens 365 days a year preventing children from disadvantaged families at risk of social exclusion deprived of adequate food when school term ends or is interrupted by holidays. The infant feeding should be a priority for all public authorities and the City should participate in the task to prevent a single child is left without making a decent meal at least once a day ".
