Irena Guidikova and Dani Torres, members of the delegation of the Council of Europe this morning visited the mayor to participate in a day of Intercultural Cities Network, RECI, which belongs Cartagena since its foundation in 2011, and where present Intercultural Cities Program and the Municipal Cultural Diversity Management.
Intercultural Cities Programme and the Municipal Cultural Diversity Management is a network of cities dedicated to work towards multiculturalism locally owned and Cartagena since its founding in 2011.
On this visit, besides work program carried out from the various councils of the City, associations, unions and employers has been done to change the prejudices about immigration and understand the diversity that lead to a value of wealth will be presented and development opportunity.
Cartagena is a member of the Spanish Network of Intercultural Cities and for this reason, European intercultural scholars have made ​​this visit: To see first hand the reality, challenges and policies being carried in Cartagena to learn, make recommendations, share experiences of what is done in other cities and city recognize those who have a commitment to multiculturalism, and has explained one of the experts of the Council of Europe, Dani Torres.
The expert has continued explaining that claim to know these policies and reality and eventually go see this evolution, because what we are committed governments and cities.
This visit has served to reaffirm that indeed in Cartagena, these commitments into concrete policies.
This morning, in addition to meeting with the Mayor, the Council's experts presented the program for Intercultural City and have held a meeting with experts from the Department of Employment, Social Care and UPCT, associations and unions on Diversity in the Economy Local and Integration.
