The workshop A Walk Through the History of Cartagena: their customs and traditions, organized by the Department of Social Services for the elderly, has led this morning its members to share a class with the Cartagena sculptor Juan Jose Quiros.
It has been developed in a classroom building La Milagrosa and has composed a talk on the Four Saints: San Isidoro, Santa Florentina, San Leandro and San Fulgencio, at the same time Juan Jose Quiros created a size Santa Florentina, sharing with students the details of their work.
Santa Florentina was born in Cartagena within a Hispano-Roman family who professed the Catholic faith.
His birth is in the sixth century, at a time that reigned in Toledo Visigoth minority of Arian beliefs.
His parents, Severiano and Túrtura belonged to one of the most important noble families in the area.
Florentina was the third of five children.
His brothers Leandro, Fulgencio, Isidoro and Theodosia were called.
All but Theodosia, would be history of Christian Visigothic Spain as saints after living ecclesiastical successful careers.
