Students of the Polytechnic University of Cartagena UPCT Makers Association have exhibited this morning at the School of Industrial 3D printers designed and built by themselves with which they participated last weekend in 3D Printer Party national event in León.
The planes of their printers, printed pieces assembled with other 3D printers are available online.
"Everything is 'open source' for anyone to download the design and improve," says Roque Belda, of UPCT Makers, which stands at around 250 euros the cost of acquiring the materials needed to mount one of these printers.
Half of what they cost the most affordable business models.
"It's very functional.
At home, anything that is broken, like the handle of a window or a plug housing, replaced it with pieces I design and print myself, "says Belda.
Makers UPCT students have contacted companies in this emerging sector as Dreams Printed present in the Network of Chairs of the Polytechnic.
"We have made commercial printers so that we improve," said Belda, who hopes to promote "a 3D reprographics UPCT, which can reach with your pictures on a flash drive and print, as in traditional print" .
Student Revolution
Between printed objects have exhibited today features a high robots, a robot equipped with sensors that wrestler has the ability to displace another opponents robots.
"The goal is to make learning fun," says spokesman UPCT Makers.
"In a lecture you stay with 5% of what you have explained, but with the project-based learning to do it yourself you stay with the 95%" argues Belda.
"We defend a revolution in which students choose the projects they want to work, taking care of their integral development, from finding funding, design, construction and disclosure," the student at the Polytechnic.
Defuse bombs
Makers UPCT students are also working on the development of an autonomous robotic arm made of printed pieces that have the capacity to move and pick up objects and sensors will have to avoid obstacles and infrared cameras for remote.
Among the features of this prototype, which is displayed on the campus of Engineering will host the UPCT in May, would be the bomb.
UPCT Makers, which has thirty members, is open to the incorporation of new members association.
