The mayor of Cartagena, Pilar Barreiro, has issued a proclamation encouraging Cartagena and Cartageneras to participate in the procession of the Virgin of Charity, which will take place on Sunday, April 19, to celebrate the Year Charity.
The mayor stands on their side the special significance of the output image of the patron since its Basilica to walk the streets of the Old Quarter and preside over the Mass will be celebrated in the evening on the esplanade dock Alfonso XII.
The details of this procession will be presented to the media on Tuesday, April 14, at the Basilica of Charity, by the elder brother of the Board of Charity Hospital, José Vera;
treasurer, Ginés Fernández;
the rector of Charity, Francisco Montesinos;
and the Episcopal Vicar, José Abellán.
The procession will depart on Sunday at 16.00 from the Basilica towards the port, following an itinerary that will tour the Charity, Duke, San Francisco, San Miguel, Air and Cannon streets to the harbor esplanade, where about 1730 the Bishop of the Diocese of Cartagena, Jose Manuel Lorca Planes, officiate a Mass accompanied by a hundred priests.
