Encounters with author, literary readings, presentations and book signings, street theater, workshops and storytelling are some of the activities organized for the new edition AbrirLibro, taking advantage of the tenth anniversary of Mandarache Award, will be donated to the award.

The Municipal Library of Cartagena and Mandarache, the training project of readers and promote reading habit organized by the Department of Youth Award bind from 14 to 25 April to celebrate the tenth anniversary Abrirlibro and Mandarache Award. In its first ten years of life Mandarache project has made reading more than 31,000 young people from Cartagena, giving them a voice through meetings with the prize winners / finalists that are held throughout the year, and ratings are held at the end of each issue and decide the winners books, placing literature on the side of the readers, giving this priority mode in literary event, and understanding that improving the skills and reading habits of citizenship leads to an improvement of democratic life.
The City of Cartagena makes all this a strong commitment to promoting reading as a means to promote active citizenship able to handle critical and creative tools that allow the favorable coexistence and progress of society.
The Mandarache Readers Training Project has been awarded the National Prize for the Promotion of Reading 2014 by the Ministry of Education.
