The Diabetic Society of Cartagena and its region, promote the third time a seminar for teachers.
The format will have two editions, one in April to Cartagena and another in May to Murcia.
The theme will be type 1 diabetes mellitus in children, a disease that usually begins in childhood, and its incidence is increasing.
The seminar Living with Diabetes in the Classroom will be held on 13, 15, 20, 22 and 27 April from 16.30 to 20.30 at the Centre for Language and Communication of Cartagena, located in Greece.
As with other chronic diseases, diabetes can cause difficulties in school that must be overcome so that the child does not feel at a disadvantage.
Often, lies myths and prejudices that make the teacher not worry about your care, and lead children to be discriminated in different situations.
This attitude is not intentional, but is motivated by fear, insecurity and ignorance.
The aim of this seminar is to provide teachers with objective information on type 1 diabetes mellitus in order to eradicate all misconceptions and get establish guidelines in specific situations.
This will allow the children involved lead a normal school life with the help of their teachers.
