The Minister of Education, Culture and Universities, Pedro Antonio Sánchez, and the mayor of Cartagena, Pilar Barreiro, today visited the College Peñas Blancas, a pioneer project in which a group of families have created an educational cooperative to train their children and those of other families.
This, to which the Ministry of Education has authorized the second cycle and Primary and the City of Cartagena has granted the use of the facilities of the old school of Ermita, school born from the initiative of a group of enterprising families seeking an education based on learning by doing and contribute to the revitalization of the town of Tallante and surrounding areas.
This social cooperative launches its project activity starting this course with 17 students, 3-7 years old, and five teachers.
Pedro Antonio Sánchez and Pilar Barreiro met in his sight at school the initiative of these families and the training practices used in the center and follow the principle of learning through experience with handling all kinds of materials and tools, for what we have prepared an environment with a variety of equipment.
Families who have created this educational cooperative also attach great importance to the free play as a natural way of learning in children, developing creativity and involvement of families in school activity.
The initiative of these fathers and mothers is innovative entrepreneurs in the region and in Spain, where there is only one other similar project like Andolina College of Gijón.
The Peñas Blancas College has authorized two units and 28 posts Child, and three units for 48 Elementary school.
