The Local Government, meeting this morning, chaired by the Mayor, Pilar Barreiro, has adopted a comprehensive package of direct grant aid and calls for subsidies through competitive tendering amounting to 946,000 euros.

These aids are those granted four new businesses open in the vicinity of the Plaza de San Francisco in order to revive economic and commercial area.

As explained by the Councillor for Citizen Security and Commerce, Mariano García Asensio, aid totaling about 38,000 euros and will involve an investment by entrepreneurs of 100,000 euros.

It is an urban clothing trade in the Arco de la Caridad, a game room and cafe on Duke Street, a business urgently and green transportation at San Diego and a coffee bar on the street Palas.

García Asensio has commented that these grants are part of the call launched by the City under the 2014-2015 investment plans with which it comes to promoting the modernization of existing businesses or the creation of new ones.

SPORTS GRANTS

A large section of aid and grants approved this morning concern the sports world, as noted by the councilor, Diego Ortega.

Specifically bases have been approved for Grant call for an amount of 520,000 euros to which entities may choose and sports associations.

For direct grant aid team Futsal national second division (44,000 euros) was awarded;

Club Deportivo Los Belones to cover part of the installation of artificial turf (40,000 euros);

the Cartagena FC Polygon Foundation (10,000 euros);

and the Club Ciclista de Los Dolores (3,000 euros).

GRANTS TO NEIGHBORS, WOMEN AND YOUNGER "VENES

Another section has referred to the call for subsidies through competitive tendering for neighborhood associations, women and youth.

For neighborhood associations 100,000 is earmarked;

60,000 for women;

and 40,000 for youth groups.

To these must be added the 20,000 euros that have been granted directly to the Federation of Neighborhood Associations of Cartagena and Shire Fernando Garrido.

The opening of the application period for these grants, like sports, will be published shortly.

CULTURAL GRANTS

In the cultural sphere have been awarded grants to entities directly and manifestations of popular culture.

So were awarded 35,000 euros to Mass Choir Tomás Luis de Victoria;

4,000 to the Friends of the Zarzuela;

6000 for the Festival of Spanish Song Molino Derribao;

20,000 for the National Folk Festival of the District of Cartagena organized by the folk group La Palma;

and 9000 for the Pilgrimage of San Ginés de la Jara.

OTHER AGREEMENTS

The Local Government Board has also approved an agreement educational cooperation with the National University of Distance Education in Madrid, UDIMA, so that students can do internships in municipal offices.

The Board of Governors approved contributions to the pension plans of municipal employees of the City of Cartagena and its autonomous bodies to amount to 758,000 euros in 2015.

The Local Government Board has also approved the rules for the call for the admission of dependent children in eight primary schools of the City of Cartagena for children between four months and three years.

Finally, and among other issues have also approved the basis for the convening of Sport Awards Cartagena whose deadline for proposal will be announced accordingly.
