Thursday, February 19, at seven o'clock in the afternoon Cartagena Medieval Book, William Martin, with whom Monographs Series Notebooks Museo del Teatro Romano opens will be presented.
The presentation, with free admission until full capacity, will be held in the auditorium of the Museum and will feature speeches by the author himself Rosario Montero, Councillor for Culture, Cayetano Tornel, head of Archives and Library of the City of Cartagena ; Sebastián Ramallo, Professor of Archaeology at the University of Murcia and Elena Ruiz, director of the Museum of Roman Theatre in Cartagena.
The new notebooks Monographs of the Museum of Roman Theatre series created with the aim of disseminating the research work carried out by the Centre for Museum Studies.
Approximately twenty years of archaeological work on the monument and its surroundings, plus five years of restoration and architectural performance has generated an extraordinary amount of primary information that allows start generating case studies documented the different phases.
Just one of the phases, with Byzantine, with the highest incidence in the archaeological record has been the medieval period covered by this first monograph.
In that sense, archeology, understood as a discipline that aims to study the historical processes through the material document is to charge a special interest in Medieval Cartagena, and especially by the paucity of written sources.
