More foreign visitors nationals in Cartagena, Port of Cultures in 2014 (13/02/2015)

2014 has again been a good year for tourism in Cartagena, as shown by the balance sheet data year by Cartagena Port of Cultures, resulting in a higher number of visitors by 7 percent to 2013, reaching 339,995 people, an increase of 22,465 visitors, as reported by the councilor of the area of Culture and Tourism and president of the consortium, Rosario Montero.

These generated revenues of 1,605,545 euros, mostly from the sale of tickets, souvenirs and vending shops interpretation centers.

This has led to an increase in revenue of 9.13 percent, higher than in the number of visitors, due to the increase of 1.94 percent in the average expenditure of each.

THE ROMAN THEATRE, THE SHELTERS AND ELEVATOR, THE FAVORITE

For the most visited centers have been the Roman theater that captured 39 percent of the visitors;

Shelters Civil War and the Panoramic Lift with 22 percent and the Tourist Catamaran, with 15 percent.

75 percent of visitors were single and 25 percent in groups.

With respect to the latter include the significant increase in school and travel agencies, which has come to work with 100 specialized companies throughout the year, 40 more than in 2013, and shows the good position that Cartagena brand is taking in this sector.

MÃ S FOREIGN NATIONALS

Another prominent figure has been internationalization, since in 2014 were already more foreign nationals v isitantes.

Specifically 51 percent compared to 35 percent from Spanish regions and 14 percent of the Region of Murcia.

This progressive internationalization has been producing since 2009 in the number of foreign visitors has grown by 21 percent.

The main foreign visitors were the English, with 46 percent;

followed by French and American, with 10 percent each, Germans, and Russians 8 percent, 6 percent.

Among national the most numerous were the locals, with 31 percent, followed by Valencia with 23 percent, Andalusians, 13 percent, Catalans, 8 percent and manchego Castilian s, 5 percent.

AUTOFINANCIACIÃ "N IN A 89 PERCENT

The increase in visitors and revenue has allowed the consortium to obtain a significant degree of self-financing close to 89 percent.

It has also been possible for the optimization of resources, which have boosted revenue by 7.5 percent compared to 1.3 percent who grew expenses.

For 2015, the budget of Cartagena Port of Cultures amount to 1.967 million euros, including 942,000 to be invested in the enhancement of the site Pinwheel through the agreement of Repsol.
